You sat on the beach with your knees up to your chin, resting it there as you stared up at the night sky. You had been waiting for Hawks to show up after texting you to meet him at the shore but it seemed he was running late. You sighed as you stood up, starting to walk back to your beach house before a familiar voice stopped you in your tracks. As you looked back to see Hawks landing on the sand and slightly out of breath as he ran up to you. He was still in his hero costume so you could assume he was just coming from a late shift at work.
You met him half way and saw him give a small smile as you smiled back before Hawks pulled into a hug. “How have you been?” You thought for a second as you hugged back and pulled back to fidget with your hands, keeping your gaze on the sand. “Okay? I don’t know.. you haven’t been talking to me much lately..” There was silence as you two stood there, listening to the waves crashing against the shore before Hawks sighed. This caused you to look up at him to see him with his arms crossed behind his head. “Yeah.. sorry about that. Something came up..” You could tell he was hiding something but decided to not push him on it since it didn’t involve you. “Oh.. well, I’m glad to see you now.” Hawks looked over at you and smiled shyly before you watched him take off his jacket and wrap it around you.
It wasn’t necessarily cold out but there was a slight breeze and it didn’t bother you since you liked wearing his jacket whenever he gave it to you. Hawks offered his hand out to you and you took it, feeling him lace your fingers through his before both of you started to walk along the shore. “I’m glad to see you too kid.. I wish I could have got to you sooner but the commissions got me working like crazy.. going here and there.” You watched as he looked towards the horizon before glancing up at the moon that beamed in the night sky, littered with stars. “It’s fine.. I understand.. I just wish you would take off more..”
Hawks glanced at you before chuckling and squeezing your hand as he smiled at you. “I promise I’ll try to make more time for you.. just give me a few more days and I’ll take you on a date.” You blushed as you smiled shyly at the ground, grabbing his jacket with your hand and covering your face to hide from him. “T-That would be nice.. but you have to keep that promise..” Hawks stopped you two before turning you to face him. He pulled your hand up and kissed the top of it before looking at you. “Don’t worry.. I’m not gonna forget about it.” You stared at him and quickly looked away to hide your embarrassment. Hawks chuckled at this and let go of your hand to wrap his arms around your waist.
It was silent between the two of you as Hawks swayed you, humming as the wind blew. You rested your head against his chest as he continued to sway, running his hands down your sides and picking you up to twirl you in his arms. You squealed before laughing and resting your hands on his shoulder to keep yourself stable. It made you happy to be with Hawks again after not seeing him for so long. He put you down gently and leaned down, cupping your face and pulling you into a soft, passionate kiss. You wrapped your arms around his neck as he rested his hands on your hip, deepening the kiss. A devious idea came to mind as you ran your hands down Hawks torso before pulling away from the kiss and staring at him.
The look you gave definitely set something off as you began to walk away, winking and beginning to run towards your beach house. "If you miss me so badly, then you'll have to catch me before I reach my beach house!" Hawks smirked at this remark and began to run towards you. "You're making this too easy babybird!" He began to pick up his pace before flapping his wings to fly towards you and sweeping you up from behind. You screamed with delight as you gripped on to him, laughing as he twirled you in the air before landing back down on the sand and resting his chin on your shoulder. "Hm.. seems like I caught you my lil hummingbird.. What's my prize?" You thought as you held his hand and turned your head slightly to look at him. "How about I offer the night to stay with me?" Hawks frowned a bit at this and sighed, looking away. "I don't know.. I have to be at work early tomorrow.. and.." He stopped his words as he turned to look back at you.
You looked at him with puppy dog eyes and this made him chuckle as he rolled his eyes. "Alright Alright.. I'll stay but I'm only staying because you're so cute." He pecked you on the lips before pulling away and letting you lead the way up to your beach house. The rest of the night, you both spent it watching movies and eating snacks that you could find. Eventually, you passed out after your 3rd movie and Hawks carried you to your bedroom to lay you down. He gently laid you on the bed and covered you up, brushing away the hair that covered your forehead. He placed a soft kiss on it and sighed happily as he climbed into bed with you, holding you close. "Goodnight babybird..".
